When it comes to my approach to collage art, I tend to take a surreal approach. I find it more satisfying to let the viewer interpret the piece for themselves, rather than telling them what they should see. Take, for instance, my work, "Flight of the Butterflies." This piece was inspired by the Monarch butterflies that often hover around my pool area. Using a mixture of paper and glass butterflies with jewel accents, I created a vibrant and captivating mixed-media collage that perfectly captures the fluttering beauty of these delicate creatures. Each time you look at it, you may discover something new, as if the butterflies are taking flight right before your eyes.

Robert Swedroe
As a young architect, Robert Swedroe entered the art world in 1963 with the first of eight consecutive solo exhibitions, shown from Miami Beach to New York. Over the following decade, he produced hundreds of collages that received critical recognition and led to multiple sold out shows. His background in architecture shaped his approach to paintings and mixed media artwork, bringing a strong sense of structure, proportion, and balance to his creative work.
In recent years, this connection between art and design has led to a new series of multimedia constructions. These works reflect his interest in spatial composition and the relationship between two and three dimensional forms. By incorporating computer generated elements, controlled color fields, and carefully arranged imagery, his artwork continues to explore how everyday visual experiences can be reinterpreted through disciplined design.
Swedroe’s ongoing commitment to both architecture and art informs each body of work. His paintings, canvas wall art, and framed art demonstrate a consistent focus on form and composition, offering collectors artwork that reflects both technical precision and a thoughtful visual perspective.
