From an early age near Utrecht in the Netherlands, Marjolein Bastin developed a close connection to the natural world. As a child, she gathered pinecones, seeds, and flowers and began drawing the plants and wildlife around her. She has described her art as a way to preserve the impressions she loved most in nature.
After studying at the Academy of Arts in Arnhem, her work gained international recognition. She has collaborated with Hallmark, contributed to the Dutch magazine Libelle, and created children’s books featuring her well known character, Vera the Mouse. Her paintings, canvas wall art, and framed art reflect careful observation and a consistent focus on detail, inviting viewers to slow down and appreciate the quiet rhythms of nature.
Marjolein and her husband divide their time between homes in Holland, Switzerland, Missouri, and the Cayman Islands. Each setting informs her artwork. Her daily walks and close study of flowers, birds, and seasonal changes continue to shape the paintings and wall art that collectors value for their clarity, warmth, and enduring sense of place.
